  I was a little apprehensive before buying a refurbished product, but realized that this product was built a few months before I bought it. Has worked like a charm for a few days now and hopefully will last long as most Panasonics will do!

  we bought a Panasonic NN-ST651B inverter microwave yesterday. Today we took it out of the box, and set it up on the counter. We plugged it in. The display lit up "8888". We couldn't find the manual in the box, so OPENED THE DOOR to see if it was inside. The microwave oven TURNED ON when we opened the door, like the safety switch was wired in reverse or something. So, I'm sitting there in the kitchen eating lunch with our 3-yr old, and this thing is running with the door open! My partner sticks her hand in to get out the manual and I say "un-plug it quick, it shouldn't be running with the door open!!! I can't imagine that this product was tested or inspected before leaving the factory, this would have been noticed right away! Now she's worried about the "accidental microwave exposure she has had to her hand, torso, and to us in the room... After looking online, I see tons of problems with this model's door latch and lots of health problems like fertility and cancer from accidental exposure to microwaves! I would like to see a class-action lawsuit regarding the danger of this product.

  And in my own case ... :) Make sure to take the metal lids off those plastic-top instant soup containers. :) Hah.

  I have purchased three Panasonic microwaves in the last year and a half, and all have broken. I will never buy a Panasonic again expecially after speaking to my appliance repair man who told me that they never last long

  weve had 2 panasonic turbo invertor microwaves in the last year or so i believe they are too powerful which shortens the life span to 6 months if a company cant make a better product then that they shouldnt be in business and they dont appear to stand behind there warranty im returning mine to the store and telling them i want my money back

  I received my new Panasonic NN-SN657S microwave after my old Panasonic caught on fire while cooking sweet potatoes. I set the cook-time at 10 minutes... which is WAY too long.I also made the mistake of leaving it unattended. My fault TOTALLY. I wanted a microwave similar to the one I had, and found this one on Amazon. Ordered it immediately. It arrived quickly and my Brother hooked it up for me. I LOVE it. Not only does it look great on my counter, it's easy to use and keep clean. First thing I cooked??? More sweet potatoes! This is an excellent microwave which I feel you will enjoy having.

  Even after reading some of the negative reviews, we bought one at a close-out store for $70. Agree that the display has poor off angle readability, but our unit fits into an eye-level shelf in the cabinets. Therefor not a problem. The button presses did cause the unit to slide until I put a strip of plastic waffle-weave shelf liner under the feet. Now I can put 25lbs of force of the cabinet before it moves. On the plus side; I love the Inverter throttling of the magnetron. I can heat soups and sauces without boiling! On the old unit, 50% meant incinerate for 10 seconds and off for 10 seconds. The sensor reheat works pretty well. Don't how it works, but I guess that's why they pay the engineers the big bucks {:-). So after a couple of months of experience, we are happy with our Panasonic.

  We bought this microwave in April of 2011. In January of 2012, the magnetron blew. The microwave was still under warranty, and we fixed it at a local service station (30 miles away) for free. This repair took 3 weeks. Now, in September of 2012, the microwave completely stopped working for no reason. The microwave is now out of warranty, and Panasonic refuses to take responsibility for a DEFECTIVE product. Judging from the number of reviews online describing exactly the same problem, I wouldn't be surprised if we see a class action lawsuit in the future.
